U.S., China and Brazil Commit to New Climate Change Goals | TIME

‘…The U.S. and Brazil pledged to increase production of electricity from renewable sources to represent 20% of electricity production by 2030. That’s three times as much renewable energy as the U.S. currently produces and twice as much as is produced in Brazil, according to the White House.’

‘…In a separate announcement, the Chinese government said it would aim to have carbon emissions peak in 2030.’

The flip side of this process is that, as they absorb CO2, oceans also become more acidic with dramatic consequences for sea life. Even worse, oceans might not be able to cope with a future increase in man-made CO2 emissions in the same way they have been doing this so far.’
